Hey Bill, I checked out pictures of the mounting brackets of your Model A-160 actuator and the most similar straight coupler to it would be the Demco part # DM15931-95 that you were looking at. The sides of the coupler don't need to fully cover the frame tube height-wise. The 3 inch couplers like the Bulldog Cast Head Coupler w/ Wedge Latch - 2" Ball - 5-Position Adjustable Channel - 8,000 lbs # BDA2005C0317 (no longer available) have a 3 inch inner dimension to the channel mount meaning the coupler itself will be 3 inches wide or just a hair under to fit and be adjustable.

Yes, technically you can weld on the 21,000 lb Demco Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # DM16080-81.
It's got a black powder coat though, so while I'm not a welder, my understanding is you have to strip that all off before welding. If you really want to weld and not bolt on a coupler the only other option for a 2-5/16", 21k coupler for a 3" tongue is the Dexter Coupler for 2-5/16" Ball - Weld On # T1755000.
I'd go with that instead of the Demco if welding is your preference. view full answer...
Hello Anibal. The Trailer Coupler # C13800 does require 2 bolts for mounting to the tongue. If your trailer only has 1 bolt hole, a second hole will need to be drilled. The mounting holes need to be 3" apart on center. I am not sure how the original coupler was only installed with 1 bolt, but you will definitely need to add a second hole. Demco unfortunately doesn't have an EZ-latch coupler for a 2" wide channel so you're left with three options:
etrailer # CT-3001-Z (3-1/16 bolt hole spacing)
Curt # C82CR (3" bolt hole spacing)
Dutton-Lainson # DL13835 (3" hole spacing)

You can technically make the Curt TruTrack fit with an underslung coupler by using longer brackets like the 8" # C17515 or 10" # C17516 but I don't really recommend doing this because the TruTrack wasn't really designed to work with an underslung setup.

Since your tow vehicle has a non-detachable hitch ball you are going to have to look into a different coupler. The only couplers we have for a 50mm ball is a Multi-Fit like the Dexter # T2343400. This particular coupler does bolt to a 3" pole tongue and depending on your current bolt pattern may require drilling additional holes. It should not be expected to perform as advertised with only half of the mounting bolts securing it. If you don't mind drilling Jeremy I would recommend using all three mounting holes of the Dexter Actuator part # DX89FR or if you know a welder just have them weld it to the trailer.

The Channel Tongue Trailer Coupler # CT-5003-Z has a 3" wide channel designed to fit a 3" wide tongue. If you're saying it is 3-1/2" wide this wouldn't fit either. To save yourself some money I would just drill into the old coupler and run bolts through it to permanently lock it out.
